Impact Report 2024
We are delighted to share our 2024 Impact Report. This report outlines the work carried out across EPIC in 2024 and reflects the growing number of children and young people we work with. It also includes the experiences and perspectives they shared with us, which continue to guide our approach.
In 2024, our National Advocacy Service supported its highest number of children and young people to date. Many faced challenges around placements, access to services, aftercare planning and accommodation. Our youth engagement and participation work also expanded, with new programmes in residential, special care and detention settings, as well as ongoing projects with our Youth Council and Care Community. Alongside this, our research, policy and education initiatives continued to focus on promoting the rights and needs of care-experienced children and young people, including the development of the Take Care guidance for schools.
We would like to thank Tusla for their continued support of our National Advocacy Service and wider programmes. We are also grateful to the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission, Tusla Education Support Service, TU Dublin Access and Outreach Service, and other funders whose project grants enabled important work in equality, education and research. We acknowledge the support received from the Department of Children, Disability and Equality for Care Day activities and youth participation projects.
Most of all, we want to acknowledge the children and young people who engaged with EPIC in 2024. Your contributions, concerns and ideas informed every part of our work. Everyone at EPIC remains committed to working for a society where every child in the care system is valued, respected and heard.
