Stephen Maguire (he/him)

Advocacy Officer – SEA | Dublin

My name is Stephen Maguire, and I am part of the Advocacy Team at EPIC Empowering People In Care. I have worked as an Advocacy Officer – SEA since March 2026, supporting care-experienced young people living in Special Emergency Arrangements.

My role is centred on providing independent advocacy to care‑experienced children and young people, particularly those living in Special Emergency Agreements. I work to ensure that young people’s views are heard and that their rights and best interests are upheld in decisions that affect their lives. A key aspect of my role is empowering young people to build the confidence and skills to advocate for themselves.

Before joining EPIC, I worked as a Youth Justice Worker for five years in the south inner city. Before this, I spent ten years working in Residential Care, supporting children and young people across a range of settings and roles.

I hold a Postgraduate Degree in Education and an MA in Historical Research, which support my approach to advocacy and my commitment to reflective, rights‑based practice.
