My name is Katie, and I joined the EPIC team in November 2025 as the Youth Engagement & Participation Worker based in Dublin.

My role involves supporting care-experienced young people up to the age of 26 in EPIC’s Youth Council, as well as organising groups and meet ups for the Care Community. Our team supports care-experienced young people to make connections with like-minded peers, and to have their voice heard on matters that are important to them by working on different projects and campaigns. What I enjoy most about working with young people is supporting them to feel empowered and to make real change in shaping the services that affect them.

Before joining EPIC, I worked as a Social Care Worker for 6 years in both residential and fostering services. I worked on the Children’s Services team, where I provided one-to-one social care support and organised summer and mid-term programmes for care-experienced young people, as well as online fun groups. I also facilitated a young people’s forum for young people aged 15-17, supporting them to use their voice to bring positive change in the organisation. I then travelled to Australia where I worked in both primary and secondary schools as an Education Support Worker. Here, I worked with young people with additional learning needs to help achieve their goals both academically and socially.

I have a BA in Psychology and have completed trainings including DDP (Dyadic Developmental Practice) and CAPA (Child Attachment Play Assessment).
