The EPIC Care Community – a place to meet new people and learn new things!

The EPIC Care Community is a space for children and young people in care, aftercare or with care experience. It was created to provide opportunities for connection, fun and growth, as well as opportunities for action by working on projects that promote positive care identities and campaigns to bring about the changes that our Care Community members want to see.

What being a member of the Care Community means, all depends on what you want to get involved in!

Care Community activities can include:

◊ Fun social events and trips.

◊ Upskilling and learning new things.

Working on campaigns that matter to you.

◊ Contributing to EPIC’s research projects and policy work.

◊ Public and political engagement – talking to politicians and journalists or delivering workshops and presentations with EPIC.

◊ Helping with content for social media and other creative and crafty work!

◊ Joining an EPIC Youth Council

EPIC’s promise to the children and young people who join the Care Community

EPIC will provide safe, inclusive, and respectful spaces for you to come together to explore your experiences of the positives and challenges of being in care.

Your voices will advise EPIC and other services about how the lives of children and young people with care experience can be improved, as your voices CAN influence real change.

EPIC will ensure that you know your rights, have opportunities develop new skills, while having fun and making new friends along the way!

The EPIC Youth Councils

EPIC has two Youth Council – one for young people under 18, and another for those aged 18-26. The EPIC Youth Councils are representative groups of young people with care experience who advise EPIC and national stakeholders on issues and themes of concern to children and young people in care. EPIC Youth Council members also work on campaigns and projects to improve the outcomes for children and young people in care at national level across thematic areas identified by members and the wider care community.
