EPIC and Care Leavers Ireland will host the third National Aftercare Conference entitled ‘Out on My Own’ to mark and celebrate National Care Leavers week.
The opening address of the conference will be made by the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.
Speakers on the day will include young people with care experience. There will also be a special panel of guests who will be answering young people’s questions.
The purpose of the conference is to focus on key issues for young people preparing to leave care or young people who are in aftercare. The main themes of the conference focus on aftercare, education, housing and homelessness and mental health.
The aim of this conference is to raise awareness and identify the gaps for young people through hearing directly from their seldom heard voices.
