EPIC Advocacy Referral Guidelines
EPIC is an independent organisation that works with and for children and young people who are currently living in care, those in aftercare and with adults up to their 27th birthday (26 years old) with care experience. This includes those in residential care, foster care, relative care, special care, and detention.
An exception to this is adults over the age of 26 years old who require advocacy support requesting their care files under Freedom of Information.
All referrals are reviewed on a weekly basis on Fridays. If the referral is accepted the advocate who receives the referral will respond within two weeks from the meeting to make an appointment to speak or meet.
Who can make a referral?
Advocacy support can be requested by children and young adults directly (self-referral) or by Professionals or Parents/Guardians on their behalf. The advocacy work will not proceed unless the consent of the child/young person/ care leaver is obtained to do so.
